Event Description

Hello, OrlandoJUG!

We had such a great time at the Eden Bar last month, I think we may do it again. Unless we get a special guest speaker ;-) I'll put it this way: expect a talk sometime in the near future on simulation. When that happens, we'll wind up in a meeting room with an overhead projector. But for the moment, I think we'll have a casual meeting at the lovely Eden Bar with ample beer and food, atmosphere galore.

Ben King is a local developer who has been working with Swift and may drop by to share what he's learned with us.

If you haven't actually joined the OrlandoJUG group here at Codetown, please do. That way, you'll get email when I post these meeting announcements and also you'll see when others post discussions there. http://www.codetown.us/group/orlandojug

Personally, I've been spending a lot of time learning Android programming, so I'll have things to say about that.

And, that's not all! There's so much going on in the software world, including beacons - have you heard about beacons? They are smart, stick on devices with built in sensors and accelerometers. Check out Estimote for an example. So cool...#nearables

So, stay tuned and like I said, please join the http://www.codetown.us/group/orlandojug group so you'll be in the know about these meetings.

As always, I hope to see you 2/26/15...

Hi David, Good question! Ben just pinged me today and said he's loving Swift, so we'll see how it's going with that. And beyond that we'll have an general discussion sort of meeting where the most interesting conversation will emerge. That usually works pretty well. It's so beautiful outside it will be a treat to just get together and sit under the Spanish moss.

So what specifically is the topic for the meetup?  Is it like last month where it was general discussion?  Or is it more a discussion around mobile development?  Or is it specifically on Swift?

How a Game of Patterns Can Help Software Organisations to Gain Insights and Improve

Patterns can help us to understand how things work and how cultures develop. The game in an organisational system is about recognizing patterns and anti-patterns. According to Tiani Jones, leaders should work on the system rather than in the system and create the conditions for the development and sustainment of good patterns in software organisations.
